Book Author Visits

In-person Visits

Maximum of 4 total sessions per day

  • 30-60-minute sessions, depending upon by grade levels.

  • A read-aloud.

  • Sessions feature writing mini-lessons or a slide presentation.

  • Kayla asks that sessions be held in one location for the day.

  • When setting up a visit, check with Kayla on which grade level(s) to combine.

Presentation Topics

  • Write a recipe book ( Felicia’s Recipes) Chronicles of a Guinea Pig Grades K-3rd

  • Creating graphic novel scenes-Grades 4th-8th

  • A recipe for a good story writing K-6th

  • Character Creations: a deep dive into external and internal character motivations and how they direct the story-Grades 3rd-8th

Virtual Visits

30-45-minutes sessions

  • A read-aloud or writing lesson or slide presentation (varies by grade levels & target books), plus a Q&A.

  • Group size may be as large or small as you want.

Fees

  • In Maine-$1,000/day plus hotel (if 90-minute drive one-way for Kayla).

  • In New England (outside Maine)-$1,800/day plus hotel.

  • In U.S. (outside New England)-$2,500/day plus hotel & airfare & provide local transportation for Kayla.

  • Virtual-$250/session.
